Saghi Septon selected to participate in the 2026 Summer Internship Program at Cornell Tech

We are proud to congratulate Saghi Septon, a Bachelor’s student in the Faculty of Data and Decision Sciences, on being selected to participate in the 2026 Summer Internship Program at Cornell Tech, Cornell University’s technology campus in New York City.

After a competitive selection process among Technion applicants, Saghi was selected as one of only seven students from across the Technion to participate in this year’s program. His selection reflects the strong academic foundation he has built throughout his studies and his growing potential as a researcher.

Following several years in MAMRAM, one of the IDF’s leading technological units, where he served as a software architect, Saghi is now pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Data Science and Mathematics as part of the Faculty’s Excellence Program. His research interests focus on the theoretical foundations of machine learning, optimization, and physics inspired approaches to machine learning.

This summer, Saghi is spending two months in New York conducting research in a leading academic and technological environment, alongside Cornell Tech researchers and students. As part of the program, he is joining a research group working on discrete optimization and the integration of machine learning techniques into optimization problems.

This experience will provide Saghi with an opportunity to further develop his research skills, explore new directions at the intersection of mathematics, optimization, and machine learning, and gain valuable experience within an international research community.

We are proud to see our students pursue research opportunities at leading institutions around the world and bring their knowledge, curiosity, and unique backgrounds to new academic environments. Saghi’s experience at Cornell Tech is another step in his development as a researcher and in exploring the connections between mathematics, optimization, and machine learning.

Saghi, we wish you great success, fruitful research, and a meaningful and rewarding experience in New York!
