About the Program
The curriculum is jointly offered by the Faculty of Data and Decision Sciences and the Faculty of Medicine.
The dual degree program in Data Science and Engineering & Medicine is designed to train a new generation of professionals who combine in-depth medical knowledge with advanced expertise in Data Science and AI. Graduates of the program will be equipped to lead research and innovation in fields that require an integrated understanding of complex medical data and advanced technologies.
The program is intended for candidates who have been admitted to medical studies and are interested in expanding their training to include a Data Science and Engineering degree. During their studies, students will acquire mathematical, computational, and clinical tools, integrating foundational studies in computer science, statistics, and machine learning with medical sciences.
Upon completion of the first stage of the program, students will be awarded a dual degree:
Bachelor of Science in Medical Sciences and Bachelor of Science Data Science and Engineering.
After fulfilling the requirements of the dual degree, students may continue to clinical studies (in accordance with the regulations of the Faculty of Medicine) for an additional three years, leading to an M.D. degree.
Program Advantages
- A unique integration of medicine, data science, and AI, which is significantly transforming modern healthcare
• A more intensive curriculum than the classical program, resulting in a shorter duration of study
• Development of skills for analyzing complex medical data and deriving clinical insights
• Preparation for careers in medical research, the healthcare industry, and HealthTech
• Opportunities to engage in the development of innovative technologies for diagnosis, treatment, and healthcare management
Who Is This Program For?
-
Outstanding candidates with exceptionally high academic achievements
-
Individuals with strong analytical thinking and strong mathematical ability
-
Those interested in the intersection of medicine and technology
-
Candidates aspiring to be at the forefront of medical and technological innovation
Admission to the Dual Program
-
Direct admission to Year 1 is possible after registering for the dual program and successfully completing the medical school admission process
• Admission at the end of Year 1 is available to students who began their studies in Data Science and Engineering.Applications for transfer into the dual degree track in Data Science and Engineering and Medicine may be submitted through one of three admission routes: based on admission Score , based on academic acievements, or via the experimental admission track.
Candidates who meet the admission threshold in the “based on admission score” and “based on academic achievements” tracks will be invited to the MOR (Multiple Mini Interview) tests. Candidates applying through the experimental admission track who meet the specified threshold requirements will not be required to take the MOR tests.
First-year students whose application to transfer into the dual degree is accepted will be eligible to join the second year of the program, provided they have completed all first-year courses of the dual program by the end of the second semester of Year 1, prior to the start of medical studies. Admission is also contingent upon a meeting with the program advisor and receiving their approval.
Please note: Registration for the program must be completed during the official medical school application period within the academic year.
Program Structure
During the first two years, students primarily study Data & Information Engineering courses. Medical courses are gradually integrated thereafter, and in the final two years, the curriculum is mainly focused on medical studies.
