Assistant Professor Or Sharir joined the faculty in 2025. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 2021 under the supervision of Prof. Amnon Shashua. Or has held a Postdoctoral position at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) during the years 2021-2023. Or has worked both in academia and industry throughout his career, most recently as a co-founder of AAI, where he works on scientific super-intelligence since 2023. Or’s research spans deep learning theory (including scaling laws and the expressive power of neural networks), AI for quantum many-body physics, and large language models—both frontier-scale models in industry and more efficient, structured reasoning models in academia. Or leads the Efficient Intelligence Lab, where they aim to understand what it really takes — in terms of model size, data, and compute — to support robust reasoning, and how to design learning systems that make far more intelligent use of limited resources.
