The Faculty of Data and Decision Sciences proudly congratulates Tuval Raz on receiving the prestigious Jacobs Prize for an outstanding paper.
Tuval is a PhD student in the Cognitive Complexity Lab, supervised by Prof. Yoed Kenett. His research focuses on the role of questions in creativity, divergent thinking, problem-solving, learning, and artificial intelligence.
Tuval stands out במיוחד for his remarkable ability to ask questions—an ability reflected in a series of groundbreaking papers exploring the relationship between question-asking and cognitive abilities such as creativity and intelligence.
The prize was awarded for a review article he published (and which is forthcoming) in the prestigious journal Annual Review of Psychology. In this paper, he presents a comprehensive overview of current research in the field, alongside new insights into the cognitive mechanisms underlying inquiry—and how good questions drive processes of information search and acquisition.
The article also proposes a new theoretical model for understanding the role of questions in information-seeking processes.
Warm congratulations, Tuval—well done!
